Week 1 Round-up...

The old building...

The new building...

And Tom Dekle from the KY Standard, who came in to take pictures and tease us for taking a break (so I grabbed my camera and took his picture instead.)

Moving days (part 2)

Today was day two of our big moving adventure! We did a great deal of actual book moving today, so the new building is actually beginning to look like a library. So let's play "Old Building, New Building"!

The old reference section was here. Notice the empty shelves?

That's because the books are over here in the new building now.

In the old building, the public computers looked like this:

Now they look like this. Now if only our new computer table would arrive...

Genealogy in the old building?

This is the new Genealogy room.

Wave goodbye to the copier!

This is its new home.

Bonus pictures:

The children's picture books.

The YA section looks a little funny. We're waiting for some more shelves to arrive.

The Circulation desk is already beginning to gather equipment.

And boxes sit in the staff area, waiting to be unpacked.

Moving days (part 1)

So first thing yesterday morning, the movers brought more packing supplies. If you thought the picture of all the black crates in the basement was bad, check these out. Shelves on wheels were everywhere!

We did a lot of packing. Since we were open until Saturday, there were several thing that we just couldn't pack until we actually moved. By the end of the day, several desks were much cleaner than we'd ever seen them. :)

Some places were even empty!

However, we still haven't touched the book sale table.

Last day at 90 Court Square

So this past Saturday was our last day open at the old location. So what did we do? We took pictures. :)

These patrons took advantage of the last day to check out 25 items and keep them until the end of April...

And of course, the staff was busy working.
Peggy shelves some of the last books to be returned to the old library.

Angie scans the card of the last patron to be served at the old building.

And Joyce was busy working in her office.

There are books in the library!

Now, I know I said that the children's section would be the first to move over to the new building. But, well, the Young Adult section got there first. A couple of teen volunteers decided to move their own section, and that happened this afternoon.

They packed the books up into crates...

Loaded up into the library van...

And shelved the books themselves.

Now I bring to you: the first library books to be shelved in the new library. :)

Remember: Tomorrow is your last day to check out books at 90 Court Square! Stop by and wish the old building a fond farewell.

Almost there!

We've been doing lots of packing recently. But most of the empty shelves are because you all have been checking out as many books as you could carry!

Here's the large print fiction section:

And the YA fiction section:

And some empty shelves in the cataloging office!

These crates are packed and ready to be moved!

I don't know if you've ever seen the basement storage closet, but this is just some of the stuff that was in it.
